Overview
Lofoten is a wall of granite peaks rising straight out of the Norwegian Sea, 200 km above the Arctic Circle. The hikes are short, steep and absurdly scenic, and in midsummer you can do them at 11 pm in full sun.
Norway's prices are the obstacle, so we go at them head-on: the public ferry from Bodø instead of flights, shared rorbuer (old fishing cabins) with kitchens, and group dinners cooked from the supermarket and the fish counter.
Five day-hikes, light packs, two bases. It's the most relaxed of our Nordic trips — until the last 200 m of each summit.
Day by day
Meet at Bodø ferry terminal for the afternoon crossing (3–4 hrs) to Moskenes. Short transfer to our rorbu near Reine.
Warm-up on the Sherpa-built staircase above Reine, then an afternoon wander to Å, the village at the end of the road.
From Sørvågen past a chain of lakes and slabs to the Munkebu hut, with Hermannsdalstinden across the valley.
The classic: over the moor to Ryten (543 m) for the cliff-edge view, then down to Kvalvika beach. Swimmers welcome; wetsuits not provided.
Public bus along the E10 with a stop at Haukland beach and a walk over Mannen (400 m). Evening in the football-pitch-famous fishing village of Henningsvær.
Steep and bouldery to 541 m, straight above the village and its islets. Afternoon bus to Svolvær, final group dinner.
Trip ends after breakfast. Svolvær has flights, the Hurtigruten, and an express boat back to Bodø.

Good to know
The ferry is a fraction of the price of flying into Leknes, it's a beautiful crossing, and Bodø is easy to reach by budget flight or the night train from Trondheim.
Between roughly late May and mid July the sun doesn't set. By late August you get proper sunsets and a first chance of northern lights.
