Thrifty Drifts exists so that a week in serious mountains costs less than a week in a city hotel.
Our story
Started with a spreadsheet and a bunk bed
Thrifty Drifts is a small Irish adventure travel company. The idea is simple: most of what you pay for on a typical guided trip never reaches the mountain. We wanted to see how low an honest price could go if it did.
So we plan every trip from the ground up — which hut, which bus, which local guide — and publish the split. If a trip can’t be both safe and good value, it doesn’t make the list.

What we promise
Four rules we run every trip by
Nothing hidden
The price on the page is the price. Exclusions are listed in plain sight, with a realistic daily budget for them.
Small groups
Eight to fourteen people, depending on the trip. Small enough for one table at dinner.
Local and fair
Local guides, family guesthouses, hut wardens. We pay the going rate or better and we pay on time.
Tread lightly
Public transport where it works, no flights inside a trip, refill bottles, stay on the trail.
